Looking back at one of the peer reviews that I did from the marked first draft, I noticed a few different things. The first thing that noticed right off the bat was that I gave really quick and short comments such as “I agree with this statement” or “You could include a quote in this paragraph.” I didn’t ever say specifically what to do while editing their papers or go into more depth about how to help change something. I also noticed that I may have gone too easy on them and gave them many compliments when I should have focused on what needed some fixing. I think that a lot of the time this was due to the issue I had with trying to find out what actually needed some help. I believe that my peer review has gotten significantly better because I now know what to look for when going through papers. I also go into more detail when I explain how to change something that I think is needed for success with the paper.
